You need enough sleep at night to keep you revitalized, active, alert and sharp during the day. However, there are times when it’s hard to sleep especially when you are stressed out. If you’re having trouble with sleeping, try and put any or all of these 5 plants in your bedroom so that you can finally have a good night sleep.
• Jasmine Plant
This plant is an exotic plant native to Australasia, Eurasia and Oceania. One particular study shows that this plant improves the quality of sleep by reducing the levels of anxiety in your body. Due to this, quality sleep is assured helping you increase your alertness and making you productive the whole day. Jasmine plant comes with either pink or ivory flowers.
• Lavender plant
Lavender is most known for its flowers and its scent. It’s also the plant that is most-known for promoting good sleep and decreasing the anxiety levels. The scent of lavender also slows down the heart rate, stabilizes blood pressure and lowers stress levels.
One study even shows that lavender can make babies stop crying because it calms them giving stress relief to both mother and baby. Lavender in women can not only promote quality sleep but also lowers rapid-eye movement (REM).
• Aloe Vera
NASA includes Aloe Vera on its list of plants that improve the quality of air. Aloe Vera is like Snake Plant which gives out oxygen during night helping you sleep better. It’s easy to grow and maintain that you don’t really need to do much caring about it. Aloe Vera doesn’t need to much water and it can reproduce rapidly that’s why the Egyptians call it ‘plant of immortality’. Just keep your Aloe Vera near the window so that it can have direct sunlight.
Additionally, Aloe Vera can treat insect bites, rashes and falling hair.
• Snake plant
Like Aloe Vera, Snake Plant emits oxygen and take in carbon dioxide at the same time making the quality of the air you’re breathing inside your bedroom purer. Snake Plant can also filter household toxins such as benzene, formaldehyde and trichloroethylene.
• English Ivy
Another plant on NASA’s list, English Ivy is easy to grow while only needing moderate exposure to sunlight. Its leaves can alleviate asthma and allergy symptoms while increasing the quality of sleep. One study in 2005 by the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology stated that this plant gets rid of 94% airborne feces and 78% of airborne mold in half a day. Mold is bad for your breathing.
You can put English Ivy in an indoor hanging basket or a pot that’s in a high place so it can trail down. A word of caution though; it’s toxic to pets and kids so keep them away from it.
