November 22 is a much-awaited date because it\u2019s the inauguration of the country\u2019s first international eco-airport located in Panglao, Bohol. This airport is spearheaded by the Duterte government under the Build, Build, Buil;d program. The construction of the airport started on June 22, 2015. The Department of Transportation (DOTr) is going to head the memorable event for Bohol.<\/p>\n

The airport makes use of natural ventilation, motion sensor lighting and solar roof panels which accounts for one-third of the airport\u2019s energy consumption. All of these are used to make sure that the airport abides to the standard eco-friendly structure.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a Php7.8B structure that will cater to about two million passengers. It\u2019s double the capacity of the Tagbilaran Airport which is also in Bohol. The airport is set to accommodate seven aircrafts; some of which are large international airplanes. The Passenger Terminal Building (PTB) has an area of 13,884 sqms. It has 3 boarding bridges and one baggage handling system.<\/p>\n

Department of Finance (DOF) Secretary Carlos Dominguez III, DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade, Japane International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Chief Representative Yoshio Wada and Japan Embassy Minister Makoto Iyori signed the loan agreement for the building of the Phase II of the New Bohol Airport Construction and Sustainable Environmental Protection Project.<\/p>\n

There are many expectations from this project. First, it aims to increase the tourism economy and trade in the province. They also wish to promote the efficiency, safety and security of the operation as well as giving good customer service and making sure that Panglao International Airport can accommodate more airlines in the future.<\/p>\n
