Filipinos love to eat. This is very obvious in the sudden rise of too many eat all you can restaurants. There are too many of it but you will see that each of them are overflowing with customers to the point that most of the time, you even have to fall in line and wait to be able to get a table. In the Philippines, almost every occasion is celebrated; even the simplest one. This means that there will be lots of food served on the table for everyone to enjoy. During any festivities or special occasions, you will see a variety of food on the table; meat, fish, vegetables, sea foods and dessert.

Food, if taken in moderation will provide the body with health benefits. For one, it is responsible for the energy that your body badly needs. It is like a fuel in the body. The brain won’t function well if you’re hungry, right? But just like everything else around you, it also gives several disadvantages especially if it is taken in big amounts.

The meat that you eat may cause many health conditions but aside from that, it can also be the source of acquiring worms. These worms are very harmful once it enters your body. The meats of beef and pork in particular are the ones that should be avoided if possible. A lot of worms and bacteria are accumulated in their meat. It has been found in several studies that pork and beef meat are rich in these so called worms. If these enter the body, it will result to infection or virus which can be hard to cure. The worst scenario is if these worms reach the heart or the brain. The symptoms may be irreversible and might turn out to be fatal.

These are the diseases that can result from eating meat;

  • Trichinosis

This can occur when you eat pork. Symptoms may include abdominal cramps, fever, muscle pain and diarrhea.

  • E.coli

You may get this from ground pork. You may feel extreme abdominal cramps, vomiting and diarrhea accompanied with blood.

  • Salmonella

This can happen when you eat poultry. The symptoms include nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, blood in the stool. Abdominal cramps, headache, fever and chiils.

It may be really hard to avoid eating meat because especially if it’s a special recipe, you will truly love the taste and will most probably keep on eating to your heart’s content. Obviously, it can be hard to avoid eating meat. It will help though if you avoid eating raw or under cooked meat. Cooking it well may kill the worms tucked inside the meat ligaments thus keeping you safe from possible infections and bacteria. Remember this; always consider the state of your health no matter how big your appetite is.
