Scientifically, both parents are contributors to genes, thus a child would inherit from both parents. However, genes from the father or the mother function differently.
The X chromosomes are responsible for identifying intelligence. A woman carries two X chromosomes. The man carries the X and Y chromosomes. Since there are two X chromosomes present in women, there’s a great possibility that the main source of the intelligence genes comes from the mother.

This means that if an intelligent mother spends more time with her kids, she will pass her intelligence to the children. Being the first teacher and main caregiver of the children, mothers play a big role in the brain development of the child.
